Pavilion
The Columbia Farmers’ Market Pavilion will be a resource available to the entire region and will be the home to the Columbia Farmers’ Market, Pavilion Education Center, Pavilion Events Center and Community Demonstration Garden. This National Demonstration Project includes input from community surveys and focus groups, area farmers, city planning and the full resources of an architect and has been developed by Sustainable Farms and Communities, Inc. a 501c3 organization in coordination with the City of Columbia.
The Pavilion represents years of preparation with wide community support. In 2003, this project was identified by a city survey to be a top priority among citizens. This now “shovel ready” project has three main components, which for the funds requested, represents a significant, positive impact on the regional economy. SF&C has recently raised over $300,000, which has paid for the architect through design and development, surveys, staff and planning sessions.
